Post Harborfest Report

When you see the collection of little china town type stalls of 'stuff' I wonder how they can call it "craft". Craft is "an occupation or trade requiring manual dexterity or artistic skill" so I guess it's pretty broad. I managed to check out the summer schedule from one vendor- they move every weekend - it reminds me of a circus. They start in NJ and move every Saturday and or Sunday to a new town, set up and start the selling machine. They cannot possibly make a living at it?

Now, it did not look like people were really buying anything. Tie tie shirts are always hot. Frustrated parent's could be seen everywhere, untangling those stupid puppets, as their children screamed at the top of their lungs.Rude Ralphs served up copious quantities of frozen sugar water. You could calculate their sales in the garbage cans as most of the sweaty customers dumped them less than half way through.

It was beautiful in the shade by the water where I was set up. Decent amount of traffic - I sold a number of pieces - have a few custom orders to make and went home with less than I brought. Thanks for stopping by if you did. I did give out a lot of cards and talked to a lot of people interested in classes. There is definitely an draw when someone sees your work and then finds out that you could teach them too. They could see that I wasn't just a part time hack.
When my head hit the pillow - I was OUT.
