My Sewing Side

I am amused with this piece. For me it's the perfect resting place for keys, loose change - or a piece of warmed French Bread. It measures a free flowing 13 1/2" x 5 1/2". I have a dear connection with slab construction and texture -  that I think stems from  being a big seamstress. Working with fabrics, patterns and assembly is just like the construction business in clay. Measure twice- cut once.

I learned to sew in 4H at the age of 8. We had a long list of projects that we had to complete to get our sewing award. I am thankful for learning to sew at such an early age and today see that it's somewhat of a lost art. My kids sew. I made sure that they - and their whole Girl Scout troop - learned to stitch.

So I guess all of these trays, boxes and patterned pieces are my sewing side.
